Here we are at the end of the first week of our 90 day journey through the Bible. How did it go? Did the Lord reveal anything to you that you'd like to share? Did you get all of your reading in? Remember, just do you best for God's glory. He will bless your effort!
The devotional I posted two days ago on Lot's wife came from my Bible reading this week. I love when the Lord reveals Himself through His Word. I am honored when He chooses to show me things that aren't right in my life and just how to correct them in a way that brings HIM glory. God is not some hard to reach, disconnected figment of the imagination, He is a real and loving Father, who loves His children with a fervent love.
I can already see a difference in my reading time this time vs the last time. When I read through the Bible at the end of last year, I gained an immense amount of factual information. It was amazing how reading through the Bible so quickly really knitted the people and the stories together. There were many moments of "oh wow! Ya, I see how that fits!" It was fantastic.
This time, I'm finding myself immersed in the goings on of what I'm reading...like I'm there. For instance, last night I was reading about Jesus, walking on the water and how Peter asked the Lord to bid him to walk on water. We've probably all read those passages many times over and maybe even envisioned the conversation. Last night was different. Have you ever considered them being in a storm? It says the wind was boisterous. A storm such as that would be LOUD...I don't believe there was a casual conversation between Jesus and Peter. Peter was probably leaning over the side of the boat, hands cupped around his mouth, shouting "Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water." Can you see it? Winds raging, rain pounding, in the darkness...and Jesus says, "Come."
One little word. Jesus is still saying it. "Come" to me in your heart sickness, confusion, grief, despair, uncertainty, bitterness, hurt, anger, sadness.....whatever it is....COME. Just let go of the boat and go to Jesus.
Will you share what the Lord is doing in your life? If you leave a comment with your thoughts, I will add them to the bottom of this post so that others can see them too. Have a blessed week.
