When Fear Collides with Faith

Imagine yourself driving down the road, taking in the scenery and enjoying the calm.  All of a sudden a car comes out of nowhere and broadsides you.  When the car comes to a hault, you sit there stunned, wondering what just happened.  That's what it is like when fear collides with faith.  Spiritually, you're cruising along enjoying life, knowing that God is fully in control.  You have peace, you have joy, your faith is strong.  Then all of a sudden, from out of nowhere, fear strikes. You don't know where it came from but it brings you to a spiritual stand still.  Where do you go from here?

But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
Hebrews 11:6

Fear says "I can't"   Faith says  I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.  (Phil 4:13) Fear says "I'm all alone"   Faith says   I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.  (Heb. 13:5)
Fear says  "God's forgotten"   Faith says   And I will remember my covenant, which is between me and   you.  (Gen. 9:15)
Fear says "there's no hope"  Faith says  Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast,  (Heb. 6:19)
Fear says "I can't go on"  Faith says  For thou hast delivered my soul from death, mine eyes from tears, and my feet from falling.  (Psalm 116:8)
Fear says "I'm weary"  Faith says  Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. (Matt. 11:28)
Fear says "it's impossible"  Faith says With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible. (Mark 10:27)
Fear says "I don't understand"  Faith says Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.  (Prov. 3:5)

Fear breeds anxiety, agitation, confusion and paralyzation.  Faith is evidenced by the fruit of the spirit - love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance.
I have learned over the past few weeks that faith is a choice.    It's not a feeling that you wait to overwhelm you.  Think about it.  When you go to flip on a light switch, you do so with the unconscious faith that it will turn the light on.  Do you stand there and wait for an emotional feeling or a tugging at your heart? No!  You just flip the switch. That's how our faith aught to be in the Lord.  We don't need an emotional stirring to have faith, we simply need to choose to believe God. His Word is sure.

If your faith has been lacking, you'll find what you're missing by opening the pages of God's holy Word.
So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Romans 10:17

Have you found that your fear has been colliding with your faith? Take God at His word for He hasn't given us the spirit of fear (2Tim 1:7).  Cast your fear aside and simply trust Him.  There's no need to doubt Him now!
